Is there any need to be afraid?
Dr Guleria clarified that there is nothing to fear from this variant. Cases have definitely increased in this variant, but it is not a serious threat. There are two things in this variant, first, this variant is causing immune evasion. That is, there are more chances of spreading infection by evading the immune system. Second, due to mutation, the possibility of spreading from one person to another is also slightly higher in this virus.
According to experts, the symptoms of the new variant are mild and the need for hospitalization is decreasing. The Health Ministry has said that the situation is under control and there is no need to panic, but it is important to remain vigilant.
How many cases in which state?
In India, the highest number of cases have been reported from Kerala (430), Maharashtra (209), and Delhi (104). Apart from this, there are 83 active cases in Gujarat, 80 in Karnataka and 76 in Rajasthan.
