PSL ball tampering controversy

A major ball-tampering controversy has emerged from the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2026 (PSL 2026). Initially, only Pakistani batsman Fakhar Zaman, who plays for Lahore Qalandars in the tournament, was named in the controversy. Now, the names of Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf have also emerged.

The ball-tampering controversy erupted during the sixth match of the tournament, played on March 29th between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings. A video emerged from the match showing Fakhar Zaman tampering with the ball. This incident occurred before the final over of the match, when Karachi Kings, batting first, needed 14 runs to win.

Before the end of the over, Fakhar took the ball and handed it to Harris. During this, the umpire suspected that the ball had been tampered with. He called for the ball and imposed a 5-run penalty on Lahore Qalandars. Karachi now had 9 runs left in the final over to win. The team scored those runs in just 3 balls.
