In a shocking first for Andhra Pradesh, former state Intelligence Chief PSR Anjaneyulu has been arrested and sent to jail after being accused of falsely framing Mumbai-based actress Kadambari Jethani in a fabricated case. The senior IPS officer, once a powerful figure in state law enforcement, was arrested in Hyderabad on April 22 and is now behind bars — marking an unprecedented moment in Telugu police history.
High-Profile Conspiracy Unravels
Anjaneyulu, along with former Vijayawada Police Commissioner Kranti Rana Tata and Deputy Commissioner Vishal Gunni, was suspended on September 16, 2024, after serious allegations emerged about the wrongful arrest of Jethani and her father. While the other two officers have secured anticipatory bail from the High Court, Anjaneyulu has not sought bail and remains in judicial custody.
Actress Alleges Orchestrated Vendetta
Kadambari Jethani has publicly accused the officers of working in collusion with politician and filmmaker KVR Vidyasagar to arrest her under false pretenses. She claims she and her father were illegally picked up in Mumbai and taken to Vijayawada without any prior notice.
The actress has also alleged that:
- She and her father were kept in illegal police custody for 3 days
- They were later held in judicial custody for over 40 days
- Her parents were insulted and harassed during the entire ordeal
Multiple Cases, One Officer
The scandal doesn’t end here. In another case, former YSR Congress MP and current Deputy Speaker K. Raghurama Krishna Raju has filed a complaint against Anjaneyulu, accusing him of attempted murder — an investigation in that matter is still ongoing.
A Career Collapses in Shame
Once at the helm of state intelligence, Anjaneyulu’s fall from grace highlights a disturbing misuse of power. This arrest sends shockwaves through the police and political landscape of Andhra Pradesh — and perhaps sets a precedent for holding even the highest-ranking officers accountable.
