CSK spent a lot of money on Kartik Sharma in the mini auction held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday for IPL 2026. This uncapped wicketkeeper-batsman was purchased by CSK for ₹14.20 crore (14.20 crore rupees). Karthik is tied with Prashant Veer as the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history. Prashant was also purchased by CSK for ₹14.20 crore (14.20 crore rupees) in the last auction.

Speaking on JioHotstar, Kartik Sharma said, "First of all, a special thanks to all my family and friends, without their support, I don't think I would have reached this point. My entire family is very happy. Everyone is celebrating and dancing."

Karthik said, "I am very excited to play with Mahendra Singh Dhoni and learn from him. When the bidding started, I was afraid that I might miss out. But as the bidding increased, I started crying. Even after the bidding ended, I continued crying. I was filled with a sense of joy. I don't have words to express my feelings."

Karthik trained with the CSK team last season. Karthik is a wicketkeeper-batsman known for his impressive middle-order batting. The 19-year-old has scored 334 runs in 12 T20 matches at a strike rate of 164, hitting 28 sixes. His ability to hit sixes also earned him popularity in the Ranji Trophy, which encouraged CSK to invest a significant amount of money on him.
