If you make some small mistakes while making dhokla at home, then it can spoil the whole taste. Know in this article.

When we feel like eating something light but tasty in the evening snack, we often bring dhokla from the market. This is a Gujarati snack, but people all over the country like to eat it. Even if guests come to the house, dhokla is definitely served with tea. You may also like dhokla a lot, but have you ever tried making it at home? Making dhokla at home is not that difficult, but still it often does not turn out as tasty as the market one.

Many people complain that whenever they make dhokla at home, even after adding water to it, it turns out dry. Due to which it gets stuck in the throat while eating. This usually happens when you unknowingly make some small mistakes while making dhokla. So, in this article today, we are telling you about some mistakes made while making dhokla at home, which you should really avoid-

Batter being too thick

Making dhokla usually starts with preparing the batter. If your batter is not right, then your dhokla will not turn out well. Many times it happens that unknowingly we make the dhokla batter a little thick. Due to which moisture is not formed inside it while steaming. In such a situation, the dhokla becomes dry and hard. Therefore, always keep in mind that your batter should neither be too thin nor too thick. There should be a slight flow in it when dropped from the spoon.

Over steaming

Dhokla is made by steaming, but how long you are steaming it also affects its taste. Often people think that if they cook the dhokla batter a little more, it will become better. Whereas by doing this the water evaporates and the dhokla becomes dry. Always cook dhokla on medium flame for 15-20 minutes. After this, check it once by inserting a knife. If it comes out clean, then your dhokla is ready.

Malpractice with Eno or baking soda

While making dhokla, at what time you mix eno or baking soda in the batter also matters a lot. If you add eno or soda first and then keep the batter for a long time or mix it again and again. In such a situation, the gas formed in the batter goes out. Due to which the dhokla becomes hard. To make a perfect dhokla, add eno or soda just before steaming and mix it lightly. After this, you put it in the steamer immediately.

Being stingy about oil

Often people, due to being health conscious, put very little oil or just water in the tempering. Whereas by doing this, moisture and softness is not formed in the dhokla and in such a situation it becomes dry. Therefore, always heat some oil, mustard, green chillies and some water in the tempering and then pour it on the dhokla. This will give you the same spongy taste.
