Delhi: Strictness on these vehicles from July 1, petrol and diesel will not be available, know the new rules

New Rules For Old Vehicles: From July 1, 10 year old diesel and 15 year old petrol vehicles will not get petrol-diesel in Delhi. Strictness will start at petrol pumps on the orders of CAQM.

New Rules For Old Vehicles: A big change is going to happen at petrol pumps in Delhi from July 1. Now diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years will not get fuel. This rule is being implemented after the order of the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM), so that pollution can be controlled.

Why was this rule implemented?

In view of the rising pollution in Delhi, CAQM has decided that vehicles which have completed their prescribed age should not be given petrol-diesel. This will remove old and smoke emitting vehicles from the road and the air quality will improve.

Petrol pumps will be strictly monitored

To implement this rule, the Delhi government's Transport Department, Delhi Police, Traffic Police and Municipal Corporation will work together. All the departments have prepared a plan under which officers will be posted at petrol pumps and will keep an eye on old vehicles.

  • Delhi Police has been given the responsibility of petrol pumps numbered 1 to 100.
  • 59 teams of the Transport Department will be deployed at pumps numbered 101 to 159.
  • MCD team will also be present at petrol pumps.

Traffic police officers deployed at 350 pumps

The government has decided to deploy one traffic police officer at each of the 350 identified petrol pumps. Their responsibility will be to stop old vehicles from refueling and if someone breaks the rules, issue a challan or seize the vehicle.

Old drivers will face problems

If a vehicle is older than 10 (diesel) or 15 (petrol) years, it will no longer get petrol-diesel in Delhi. In such a situation, vehicle owners may have to buy a new vehicle or get the old vehicle scrapped.

The government believes that this step will make Delhi's air a little cleaner. People have been appealed to follow this rule and cooperate.
