According to the coordination center, in this fraud, professional looking but fake websites, social media profiles and WhatsApp groups are being created and various services are being claimed to be provided. These include helicopter booking for Kedarnath, guest house-hotel booking for Chardham pilgrims, online taxi reservation, holiday packages and religious tourism. For the safety of citizens, fake websites, advertisements and fake social media accounts are being banned.

After paying through these portals, when they do not get the service, then people come to know that they have been cheated. In such a situation, people should be more careful. Verify the authenticity of the websites before making the payment. Verify before clicking on sponsored or unknown links on Google, Facebook or WhatsApp. Book only from official government portals or trusted travel agencies.
