Gyaneshwari Yadav Silver Medal: Gyaneshwari Yadav secured India's fifth medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. Gyaneshwari finished second in the 53 kg weightlifting category, taking home the silver medal. She lifted 199 kg, setting a personal best and a new national record.
23-year-old Gyaneshwari Yadav lifted a total of 199 kg (88 kg snatch + 111 kg clean and jerk). Nigeria's Onome Omolola Didih lifted a total of 206 kg (93 kg snatch + 113 kg clean and jerk) to win the gold medal, while Canada's Rebecca Groulx finished third, taking bronze with 178 kg.

Speaking to the media after her win, Gyaneshwari Yadav said, "I am very happy. This is my first Commonwealth Games. My primary motive was to achieve my personal best, and that's what I did. I tried to bring gold for India, but the competition ahead was very tough. I achieved my personal best and won the silver medal, which makes me very happy."
Regarding further preparation, he said, "The preparation was very good. We were training for this in Birmingham for one month. The preparation there was very good, and today its results came here."
Further talking about weightlifter Mirabai Chanu's gold, Gyaneshwari said, "Yesterday, when Mira didi (Mirabai Chanu) won the gold, a different kind of enthusiasm came from within."
