A 25-year-old man allegedly raped a Class 10 student in Malappuram, resulting in her pregnancy. The accused Nikhil, a resident of Vettam in Tirur, has been arrested by the police under the POCSO Act.

According to the report, the victim's family found out about her pregnancy when she was admitted to the hospital due to health issues. The girl had reportedly hidden the incident from her family.

Later, the school authorities informed the police, following which Nikhil was arrested. Police investigation revealed that Nikhil had befriended the victim through social media and frequently visited her house, where he allegedly raped her.

Police are also investigating if Nikhil's friends were involved in the crime. Childline and police have recorded the statement of the victim and a detailed investigation is underway.
