Congo News: Rebels have captured Goma, the capital of Congo located in the middle of the African continent. These rebels led by M23 also captured the city's airport, although the rebels are still facing government-backed militia and army in some areas of Goma. There is firing everywhere. 

 

 

The embassy was also attacked 

So far, a total of 13 peacekeepers have lost their lives in the war with these Rwandan-backed rebels. There are piles of corpses on the streets of Goma, which has a population of 2 million. A large number of injured are being admitted to hospitals. The rebels also attacked the embassies of France, Rwanda and America along with the capital of Congo. 

M23 wants to take over the country

Congo is a mineral rich country. Minerals like gold, silver, diamonds, lithium, cobalt, gas, oil and copper are found here. These rebel groups want to take complete control of this country. On the morning of Tuesday, January 28, there were huge fires and explosions at many places here. So far, 4 South African soldiers have been killed in this war. Hundreds of Congolese soldiers have surrendered. 

 

 

Indian doctor-soldiers surrounded 

Let us tell you that an Indian Army hospital in Congo is providing medical services to UN soldiers. A staff of about 80 people of the Army Medical Corps (AMC) of the Indian Army is present there. At the same time, 24 soldiers of the Indian Army are providing their services in the level three field hospital there. Firing has also taken place there. An Indian Army doctor present in the hospital in Goma has demanded the Foreign Minister and Defense Minister to call back the Indian soldiers and doctors from there. 

Who is the M23 group? 

Let us tell you that M23 is one of the more than 100 rebel groups active in Congo for a long time. These rebels had also temporarily captured Goma in the year 2012, however due to international pressure the group had to retreat. This group was formed by people of Tutsi caste who broke away from the Congo army. Although this group claims that its aim is to fight discrimination, but they want to capture the entire Congo.
