Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Pak Army Chief Asim Munir, knows what issues were discussed.

The Pakistan military said in a statement that China has expressed "firm support" for Pakistan's sovereignty and development as the two sides agreed to strengthen their "evergreen strategic partnership".

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir on Friday (August 22, 2025) and discussed regional security, counter-terrorism measures, and matters of mutual interest.

Wang Yi arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday to attend the sixth round of foreign ministers' strategic dialogue in Islamabad. He also met Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari and reiterated China's commitment to working with Pakistan to promote regional peace, development and stability.

 

China has expressed "firm support" for Pakistan's sovereignty and development, the Pakistan military said in a statement on Friday, as the two sides agreed to strengthen their "evergreen strategic partnership".

He said that the discussion between Army Chief Munir and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang focused on regional security, anti-terrorism measures and matters of mutual interest. Munir expressed gratitude to China for its continued support.

 

Last month, Munir visited China where he met Vice President Han Zeng, Wang and top military officials but did not meet President Xi Jinping like his predecessor General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

 

On Thursday, Wang and Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a strategic dialogue to review all aspects of bilateral cooperation, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, trade and economic relations, multilateral cooperation and people-to-people ties.

Wang arrived in Islamabad from Kabul. In Kabul, he participated in a trilateral meeting with the foreign ministers of Afghanistan and Pakistan. In Kabul, the three parties agreed to expand cooperation in various fields, including the expansion of CPEC.

 

This is Wang's second visit to Pakistan in the last three years. Last week, he visited New Delhi where he held talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and participated in the 24th Special Representative border talks with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
