Child or unemployment? Has poverty changed the thinking of today's youth?

Poverty and Family Planning: Due to rising inflation and job uncertainty, today's youth give priority to financial stability first, hence the decision to expand a family has now become practical and not emotional.

Poverty and Family Planning: "We are thinking about having a child, but the job is not stable right now, how will we bear the expenses?" This is a common sentence that has become a part of the conversation of many newly married or young couples today. Gone are the days when family expansion was considered a natural phase. Today's young generation first gives priority to a "secure future", then thinks of expanding the family. Rising inflation, job uncertainty and new lifestyle expectations have radically changed the thinking of today's youth. Now in response to "When will we have a child?", things like "First get a job" are becoming common.

Financial hardship and job uncertainty

Lakhs of youth in India are unemployed even after graduation and post graduation or are struggling in temporary jobs. In metro cities, the entire salary is spent on rent, EMI, medical expenses and maintaining lifestyle. In such a situation, it is not easy for everyone to take the responsibility of raising a child.

The child has now become a 'financial planner'

Earlier, children were accepted as a 'blessing from God', but today they are being seen as a 'planned investment'. If we add hospital expenses, education, day care, private school, coaching, extra-curricular, then raising a child now demands expenditure of lakhs. Young parents want to prepare themselves financially first, so that they can give a better future to their child, the same future which they themselves once felt lacking.

Emotional pressure versus real needs

Even today, there is pressure in many families to have children soon after marriage, especially in small towns or traditional-minded homes. But the new generation now thinks about themselves instead of emotional pressure. They want to be prepared both mentally and financially, so that they can do justice to children.

Is this thinking wrong?

Not at all. This thinking is suitable for today's time. In the midst of changing society, increasing expenses and limited resources, it has become necessary that people take decisions after thinking carefully. This is not only necessary for oneself, but also for the well-being of the coming generation. But there is another aspect of this, because there are some people who do not want to have children, in such a situation the situation of India can deteriorate in the future. Because if there are no children, then many things will come to a halt.
