Chennai Super Kings will be without MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis, making it difficult for the captain to select his 11 players.

IPL 2026 CSK vs RR: The third match of the current IPL season will be between Chennai and Rajasthan. Chennai will face a significant challenge in selecting its playing eleven without Dhoni and Brevis.

MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis

Chennai Super Kings appear to be in serious trouble ahead of IPL 2026. Player injuries are weakening the team. Former captain MS Dhoni is the biggest name on the franchise's injured list. Dhoni's presence on the field is a significant advantage for Chennai. Furthermore, the team's young star batsman, Dewald Brevis, is also reportedly suffering from an injury.

Without Dhoni and Brevis, Chennai captain Ruturaj Gaikwad will face a significant challenge in selecting his starting eleven for the match against Rajasthan. Dhoni's experience is beneficial for the team. However, the absence of Brevis, known for his explosive batting, could weaken the team's batting order. Last season, Brevis was a brilliant batsman for the team, scoring 225 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 180.

Sanju Samson could somewhat replace Dhoni in this match. Like Mahi, he is also expected to be seen behind the stumps. Sanju could open the innings alongside captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ayush Mhatre could then play at number three to complete the top order.

Then, in the absence of Dewald Brevis, the middle order could be opened by Sarfaraz Khan or Urvil Patel. Left-handed Shivam Dube could then appear at number five. At number six, spin all-rounder Prashanth Veer, worth ₹14.20 crore, could be considered.

Kartik Sharma, who was also bought by the franchise for ₹14.20 crore, could be sent in as a finisher at number seven.

This could be the bowling department.

Jamie Overton, Khalil Ahmed, Noor Ahmed, and Matt Henry can be seen in the bowling department of the team.
