Srinagar, May 6 – Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah made a key statement during a review meeting with senior officials, asserting that the central government is fully committed to ensuring that the recent Pahalgam terror attack does not disrupt the region’s governance or development agenda.
"Top Leadership Committed to Development"
Referring to his May 3 meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Abdullah said the Union government does not want such attacks to become a barrier to progress.
"The top leadership of the Government of India does not want such incidents to become obstacles in the path of development. This is also our responsibility," he stated.
He acknowledged that the incident has impacted tourism but emphasized that development efforts must continue without interruption.
Security and Governance Prioritized
Abdullah directed administrative officials to take all necessary steps to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the Amarnath Yatra, stressing that the responsibilities of civil administration must be met under all circumstances.
He urged a coordinated approach among all departments to strengthen public safety and maintain stability in the region.
Rail-to-Kashmir Project Delay Addressed
The Chief Minister also spoke about the delay in the "Rail-to-Kashmir" project, which was set for inauguration on April 19 but was postponed due to bad weather.
