Today is the third day of the session. The ruckus of the opposition has been going on in Parliament for the last two days. During this, BJP MP Sambit Patra replied to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on the monetization of gold.

Citing a 1991 news article, Sambit Patra claimed that the Reserve Bank of India was forced to sell the country's gold. In comparison, he claimed that now the RBI is getting back gold from the UK. He said that "The UPA government had mortgaged the country's gold, while the Modi government is bringing back the country's gold assets."

Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday (March 11, 2025) criticised the Sovereign Gold Bond scheme, saying it has been a total failure since its launch in 2015. He argued that the scheme has failed to curb gold imports or aid government borrowing. Gogoi also claimed that GST evasion is set to double to ₹2 lakh crore in 2023. Attacking the government, he highlighted the decline in the contribution of the manufacturing sector to GDP, which has come down from 17% in 2010 to 12.9% today.
