In a deeply disturbing incident in Patna’s Punpun market, a police team responding to a domestic disturbance call was attacked, leading to the physical assault of a woman constable. The shocking episode has sparked concern over the growing trend of attacks on law enforcement officers during field duties.
According to reports, Constable Neha Kumari, posted at Punpun police station, had gone with fellow officers to investigate a reported altercation in a residence. Upon arrival, they witnessed a woman, identified as Dimple Kumari, allegedly assaulting a man.
Police Intervention Turns Violent
Despite attempts by officers to de-escalate the situation, Dimple reportedly became aggressive towards the police team. When Constable Neha intervened, the accused physically assaulted her—tearing her uniform and inflicting injuries by biting her. Other officers who stepped in were also reportedly attacked.
FIR Filed, Accused on the Run
An FIR has been registered at the Punpun police station against Dimple Kumari, wife of Rahul Kumar from the Kalabagan area. Authorities confirmed that the woman fled the scene following the attack. A manhunt is underway, and officials have assured that she will be arrested soon.
Police Statement
The Punpun station in-charge stated that Dimple had a prior dispute with Amar Singh and his family, which escalated into the violent incident. "Such attacks on police personnel performing their duty will not be tolerated," said a senior official.
This incident raises serious concerns about the safety of police personnel, especially women officers, during on-ground interventions. Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring justice and taking strict legal action.
