(Big update in PM WANI WiFi)

PM-WANI Wi-Fi: To provide affordable and easy internet access to people across the country, the government has made several significant changes to the PM-WANI (Prime Minister Wi-Fi Access Network Interface) scheme. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) aims to make public Wi-Fi more secure, fast, and user-friendly, so that people can easily access the internet at railway stations, bus stands, and other public places.

Wi-Fi will connect as soon as you scan the QR code.

Now, using PM-WANI Wi-Fi will eliminate the need for a lengthy login process. Under the new system, users will be able to connect to the internet in just a few seconds by scanning a QR code. This feature will also make it easier to connect laptops, tablets, and other devices. Users simply need to scan the QR code displayed on the login page with their smartphone, and internet access will be immediately granted. This will make the login process faster and more secure than before.

Cheap plans with 15, 30 and 60 minutes

Keeping in mind the needs of the people, the government has also introduced new short-term plans under PM-WANI. These will be sachet-style plans with validity of 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and 60 minutes. These plans will benefit those who need internet for short periods of time, such as while traveling at a railway station or bus stop. This will allow users to use data as per their needs at a lower cost.

Protection from fake Wi-Fi networks

The government has also taken new steps to protect against cyber fraud and fake hotspots masquerading as public Wi-Fi. PMWANI branding will now be mandatory in the name of official networks. This change will make it easier for people to distinguish between genuine and fake Wi-Fi networks. This will help reduce incidents like data theft and online scams.

Preparations to increase internet access across the country

The government believes that these new changes will make the PM-WANI scheme more effective and strengthen internet access from rural to urban areas. Features like easier login, smaller plans, and improved security will help improve people's digital experience.
