In a groundbreaking move, the Rajasthan government is making cancer treatment completely free, extending its health initiative beyond the capital city of Jaipur. The scheme, which started recently in Jaipur, is now being rolled out across the state — with Jhunjhunu becoming the latest district to benefit from this life-saving program.
Cancer Diagnosis & Treatment — Now 100% Free in Jhunjhunu
A state-of-the-art cancer testing machine has just been installed at BDK Hospital, the largest medical facility in Jhunjhunu. The machine, inaugurated by PMO Dr. Rajveer Rao, is capable of testing for various cancers including blood cancer, breast cancer, and cervical cancer.
- All cancer-related tests will be completely free of charge
- Reports will be provided within 48 hours
- Sample collection will be done at the nearby blood bank
Dr. Rao emphasized that this machine will help detect cancer early, which can be life-saving — especially in areas with limited access to specialized care.
Why This Matters: Over 1 Lakh Cancer Patients in Rajasthan
Rajasthan has over 1 lakh registered cancer patients, and this number does not include those seeking private treatment. By expanding free cancer care to government hospitals, the Bhajanlal Sharma government is offering a major lifeline to families that often struggle with the high cost of cancer treatment.
Free Medicines Too: 175 Types Already Covered
The government isn’t stopping at free diagnosis. It has also launched an initiative to provide around 175 types of cancer medications completely free in major hospitals across the state — a move that is already helping thousands.
This scheme marks a powerful step toward accessible and affordable cancer care for every citizen in Rajasthan. With free tests, fast reports, and essential medicines, the state is setting an example for public health reform in India.
