FASTag annual pass fees to increase from April 1

FASTag annual pass hike: If you're one of those commuters who frequently travel on the highway, this news is for you. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is increasing the annual FASTag fee for the new fiscal year (2026-27).

Effective April 1, 2026, the price of the FASTag annual pass has been increased from ₹3,000 to ₹3,075, representing a ₹75 increase (approximately 2.5%). FASTag is an electronic toll collection system that allows cashless travel on national highways and expressways. This annual pass is a prepaid option for frequent travelers, allowing users to make a one-time payment and pass through tolls without interruption.

How long will the annual pass be valid?

This annual pass will be valid for one year or 200 toll crossings (whichever comes first). After completing 200 trips, the pass will automatically convert to a regular FASTag (pay-per-use). You will then need to reactivate it. While the fee increase is minor, it is significant for users who frequently travel on the highway.

Meanwhile, those who wish to purchase or renew their annual pass can still do so at the current price before the new rates kick in. FASTag Annual offers several benefits – hassle-free toll payments, reduced waiting time at toll plazas, and economical travel for frequent travellers.

Who can use it?

The Annual Pass can be used for both private and commercial vehicles. However, its coverage is limited. It is valid at approximately 1,150 toll plazas across the country (National Highways and Expressways). It will not work on state highways or private toll roads.

How to renew or activate an Annual Pass?

• First of all install Rajmarg Yatra App or visit NHAI website
• Login with your registered mobile number and the OTP received on it.
• Select the 'Annual Toll Pass' option and enter your vehicle registration number (VRN)
• Pay Rs 3000 (by March 31) using UPI/Debit/Credit card or Net Banking
• Your FASTag will be activated within approximately 2 hours of making the payment
