According to Hindustan Times, a BCCI official said that in his message, Ajit Agarkar has mentioned his meeting with the board in February, when he had first told the board that after his tenure ends, BCCI should start looking for options for a new chief selector.
At the BCCI's 95th annual meeting on Friday, the board delegated the authority to decide on the selection committee to the state associations. Sourav Ganguly and Venkatesh Prasad were also present at the meeting, representing the Bengal and Karnataka state cricket associations, respectively.
This entire matter was also linked to Rohit Sharma. It was reported that during the England tour, the selectors had informed Rohit Sharma that he would not be included in the 2027 World Cup plans. However, according to reports, some top BCCI officials were unhappy with this decision of the selection committee.
Parthiv Patel leads the way.
According to reports, former cricketer Parthiv Patel is leading the race to become the new chief selector. Pragyan Ojha, who is part of the current selection committee, is also being considered as an option. If a contest arises between the two, Ojha may face a BCCI rule that the chairman of the selection committee is awarded the position of chairman. Pragyan Ojha played 24 Tests, while Parthiv Patel played 25.
