Revelation on Pragyan Ojha becoming the Chief Selector
Ramesh Powar has joined Team India's selection committee. Following his arrival, Pragyan Ojha has become the full-time chief selector. Pragyan has been appointed to the position for a significant reason, and the backstory is quite interesting. It is reported that Pragyan was responsible for bridging the gap between the senior players and the team management. The BCCI even entrusted him with the responsibility of resolving the rift between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir.
BCCI experimented
Pragyan Ojha has played alongside Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Team India. He also played with Rohit for the Deccan Chargers in the IPL. According to the Hindustan Times, Pragyan has good relationships with active senior players, and the BCCI ensured that these good relationships were used for a good cause.
The report revealed that when things started getting out of hand regarding Rohit Sharma's retirement during the UK tour, Pragyan was sent as a courier. However, no information has been revealed about what conversation took place between Rohit and Pragyan.
Virat and Gambhir's bad relationship
Pragyan Ojha also emerged as a troubleshooter. The news of the communication gap between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli is no secret. The BCCI even entrusted Pragyan with the responsibility of bridging the gap between Gautam Gambhir and Virat. Pragyan even spoke to Kohli and attempted to resolve the issue.
Well, after becoming Chief Selector, Pragyan Ojha faces a huge task. The 2027 ODI World Cup is less than a year away. Addressing the poor bowling performance, in particular, will be a major headache for the selection committee over the next year. The Indian team's bowling department is severely lacking in ODI experience.
