Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd Test Match Highlights: Australia cricket team won the series by 2-0 by defeating Sri Lanka by 9 wickets in the second and last test match played at Galle International Stadium. Chasing the target of 75 runs, Australia won by losing 1 wicket in 17.4 overs. Alex Carey and Steve Smith with the bat and Nathan Lyon and Matthew Kuhnemann played an important role in Australia's victory.
Usman Khawaja scored an unbeaten 27, Marnus Labuschagne scored an unbeaten 26 and Travis Head scored 20 runs. Prabhat Jayasuriya took the only wicket for Sri Lanka.
After falling behind by a huge margin in the first innings, the Sri Lankan team was all out for 231 runs on the fourth day. Angelo Mathews scored 76 runs in 149 balls. Kusal Mendis hit his second consecutive half-century in the match and played a quick innings of 50 runs in 54 balls. Five players of the team could not reach the double digit figure.
For Australia, Matthew Kuhnemann and Nathan Lyon took 4-4 wickets in the second innings, while Beau Webster took 2 wickets.
It is worth noting that after winning the toss and batting first, the Sri Lankan team scored 257 runs in the first innings on the basis of innings of Kusal Mendis (85 not out) and Dinesh Chandimal (74 runs).
In response, Australia scored 414 runs and took a lead of 157 runs in the first innings. Alex Carey played the best innings of his career and scored 156 runs in 188 balls, in which he hit 15 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from this, captain Steve Smith hit his second consecutive century and played an innings of 131 runs in 254 balls.
For Sri Lanka, Prabhat Jayasuriya was the most successful bowler by taking 5 wickets in the first innings.
Alex Carey was named Player of the Match for his winning century. Steve Smith was named Player of the Series for scoring the most runs in the series.
