Jammu Kashmir Politics: In a political development in Jammu and Kashmir, former leaders of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami have announced the formation of a new political party Jammu Kashmir Justice and Development Front (JKJDF). The announcement was made during a workers' conference in Kulgam district of Kashmir, which is considered a stronghold of the Jamaat. Most of the members of the new party have previously been part of Jamaat-e-Islami and its aim is to unite the former members. The party has also applied to the Election Commission for official recognition and election symbol.
Offshoot of Jamaat.. New banner
JKJDF president Shamim Ahmed said that this party is a new form of Jamaat. Since Jamaat is banned, we will now work under this banner. He hoped that the party will present a transparent governance model and will not be limited to only promises. He also said that the party will support those decisions of the National Conference government and the Chief Minister which will be in the interest of the public.
Educated representatives for the public
The party says it will provide educated and honest representatives in all areas who will work selflessly for the welfare of the public. JKJDF will launch its official election campaign from Srinagar in the coming weeks.
