Amid heightened tensions between Iran and the US, IndiGo announced the cancellation of flights to Tbilisi and other cities.
US Iran Tensions: Amid rising geopolitical tensions in Iran, private airline IndiGo has taken a major precautionary decision. The company announced on Sunday that it has cancelled its flight services to Tbilisi (Georgia) and Almaty (Kazakhstan) in view of the current situation. According to IndiGo, all scheduled flights from Delhi to Tbilisi and Mumbai to Almaty and back on January 25 have been cancelled. This decision has been taken keeping the safety of passengers and crew as a priority.
Impact of Iran tensions
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, IndiGo said it is closely monitoring recent developments in Iran and surrounding areas. Due to security concerns, the airline has made temporary changes to its flight schedules. As a result, some flights departing from Tbilisi, Almaty, Baku (Azerbaijan), and Tashkent (Uzbekistan) on January 26 may make a brief stopover in Doha (Qatar) for refueling.
The airline also clarified that this move is purely precautionary and that services will be reviewed once the situation returns to normal. Passengers are advised to check their flight status before their travel and monitor IndiGo's official website or social media handles for any updates.
Fears of military conflict
It is worth noting that tensions between Iran and the United States are steadily increasing, and there are fears that this situation could escalate into a major military conflict. Due to this geopolitical uncertainty, international airlines are adjusting their routes and operations to ensure passenger safety is not compromised.
