The A320 (VT-TYA) plane of Air India flight AI-2744 coming from Kochi to Mumbai was landing at Mumbai airport amid heavy rain when it slipped and went off the runway. The flight's tire went off the runway as soon as it landed, although the pilot tried to take the tire out, but he was not successful. The airport staff docked the plane and rescued the passengers.

Air India said that on 21 July 2025, there was heavy rain during the landing of flight AI-2744 from Kochi to Mumbai, due to which the balance of the plane on the runway got disturbed while landing. One wheel of the plane had gone off the runway. The plane has reached the gate safely. All passengers, pilots, and crew members are safe. The plane will be examined.

 

Three tyres of the plane burst and the engine was damaged.

A spokesperson of Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has said that all the passengers are safe. The plane slipped while landing. The incident happened due to heavy rain, but there is nothing to worry about, everything is fine. According to a Hindustan Times report, 3 tires of the plane burst during landing and the engine of the Air India plane was damaged. The airport's runway 09/27 has also been damaged. The work of repairing the runway has started.
