During this period, the number of patients recorded in their OPD (Out-Patient Department) and IPD (In-Patient Department) is more than the total population of Singapore, that too in a year!

Let's start with OPD

Where patients come with their problems, doctors see them, and if needed, treatment begins. AIIMS recorded about 42.55 lakh OPD visits in the data recorded last year, which is quite surprising. Apart from this, the number of patients admitted in IPD i.e. hospital was also more than 2.8 lakh.

About 50 lakh people are treated in OPD

Let us tell you that on 15 August 2025, AIIMS Director Dr. M Srinivas gave the details of one year. The figures of which have shocked everyone. In which it was told that in the last one year, about 50 lakh people were treated in the OPD of AIIMS. Along with this, it was told that more than 3.5 lakh people were admitted to the hospital. Also, about 3 lakh surgeries were done in different departments of the hospital.

  • More than 15,000 MRIs were done.
  • HIV Drug Resistance Testing LAB was established.
  • 25 drug treatment clinics were opened in 20 states.

Why is this record important?

From this achievement of AIIMS, we need to learn at what level a government institution can work in the service of the public. Here we are not just talking about the number of patients but about treating people in the best and most reliable way.

This capability of AIIMS and its continuous work on such a large scale is indeed praiseworthy. This hospital is a confluence of excellent preparation, experienced doctors, nursing staff, administrative system and modern facilities. Also, it has become a name of trust in the society, which people choose for treatment from all over the country.
