After Srinagar, now you will reach Leh by train! Ladakh will get all-weather connectivity, what is the masterplan of Modi government?

Ladakh Development: Development work is going on continuously in the tourist destination Ladakh. Regarding this, Junior Union Highway Minister Harsh Malhotra mentioned several current projects.  

Ladakh Development Projects:    It takes a lot of time to reach Ladakh, one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in North India. Usually people either reach here by road or land here by flight. On one hand, it takes a lot of time to reach here by road, while on the other hand, the pocket is also empty through the plane, but now this problem can be solved soon with the ever-increasing development work in the area. Let us tell you that Junior Union Highway Minister Harsh Malhotra told on Sunday, 23 March 2025, that after the removal of Article 370 in the Union Territory of Ladakh in the year 2019, there has been a flood of projects related to road connectivity for civilian and military facilities. He said that since the year 2020, big projects have come from many sectors in the area. 

 

 

The distance will be less from the railway line 

Harsh Malhotra said, 'Currently it takes 40 hours to reach Leh from Delhi by road, but once the railway line is ready, this distance will be reduced to 20 hours.' The minister said that the Srinagar-Leh rail project has not been cancelled but it has been put on hold. He also mentioned the Bilaspur-Manali-Leh railway project worth Rs 1.31 lakh crore. Apart from this, he also gave information about the new terminal project worth Rs 640 crore at Leh airport. 

 

Shinku La Tunnel Construction Work 

The minister also mentioned other projects in the presence of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Chief Executive Tashi Gyalson, including the Shinku La tunnel. PM Modi inaugurated this Rs 1,200 crore project in June last year. A twin-tube structure of 15,800 feet and 4.1 kilometers will also be built in this project.

Let us tell you that the Neemu-Padam-Darcha road will be completed within 2 years, which will connect Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. It will provide all-weather connectivity in Ladakh. Which will be able to meet the needs of the general public and the military. Regarding this, Harsh Malhotra said that the project of Rs 2,405 crore in Neemu-Padam-Darcha Road remains a priority. This will further strengthen the connectivity of Ladakh.
