Tensions between India and Pakistan have soared following the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives. A Pakistani organization’s alleged involvement has further fueled the strained relations. The ripple effects are now reaching the cricketing world, with strong reactions coming from players on both sides.
Speculations are rife that the BCCI may request the ICC to avoid placing India and Pakistan in the same group for upcoming tournaments. Amid this backdrop, Pakistani women's cricketer Gul Feroza has stirred fresh controversy with her explosive remarks.
Gul Feroza’s Controversial Outburst
Gul Feroza, who recently helped Pakistan qualify for the Women's World Cup as an opener, made it clear she has no interest in playing in India. Speaking after her team's qualification, she said bluntly:
"We are not playing in India. This is clear. Nor do we want to play in India. We know we will play in Asian conditions, whether it’s Sri Lanka or Dubai. We’re preparing accordingly."
Feroza emphasized that her team is focusing on preparing for pitches similar to home conditions and ruled out any plans of playing on Indian soil.
PakPassion.net shared her statement, quoting her firm stance:
"We’re not going to India."
BCCI Stands Firm Amid Rising Tensions
Reacting to the broader situation, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla condemned the Pahalgam attack and expressed solidarity with the victims. He reiterated that the BCCI will strictly follow the Indian government's directives regarding cricketing ties with Pakistan.
Currently, as per government policy, India and Pakistan do not play any bilateral series. Only in ICC events, where participation is mandatory, do the two nations face off on the field — and even that could change depending on how the situation unfolds.
