By Jitendra Jangid- Friends, as we all are seeing that the temperature is increasing rapidly in North India, due to which people are getting very upset, to avoid the heat, people are using fans, coolers and air conditioners, the most preferred option among them is air conditioner which cools you quickly, but do you know that if your AC is not properly maintained, it can become a fire hazard? Ignoring these warning signs and mistakes can lead to dangerous overheating, electrical fires and even life-threatening situations, let's know about these mistakes-
1. Dirty AC filters can overheat the system
If the AC filter is not cleaned regularly, it gets clogged with dust and debris. This causes the motor to work harder, increasing the risk of overheating.
2. Old or loose wiring causes fire
Damaged, worn or loose AC wiring is a major cause of short circuits. If you notice sparks, flickering or a burning smell near your AC outlet – take action immediately.
3. Using a local extension board is risky
Cheap or unbranded extension cords cannot handle the voltage of the air conditioner. They often get overloaded and overheat, posing a serious risk of fire.
4. Running the AC non-stop causes the motor to overheat
Using your AC continuously for 10-12 hours without a break can cause the internal components to overheat. Such prolonged use can melt the internal wires and cause a fire.
5. Not getting regular servicing done increases the risk
When you delay servicing the AC, dust accumulates inside, increasing the pressure on the motor. This not only impacts performance but also increases the risk of fire.
