Aaqib Nabi joins Team India
The one-off Test match between India and Afghanistan begins on June 6th. When the BCCI announced Team India for this series, Aqib Nabi's name was missing from the list. Aqib's performance in domestic cricket was excellent, so the selectors were criticized for not including him in the Test squad.
The BCCI has now made a significant decision in response to the trolling. Aaqib Nabi has joined the Team India camp ahead of the Test match against Afghanistan. In addition to Aaqib, six other players have also joined the Indian cricket team camp.
According to news agency PTI, a source stated that Aaqib Nabi and six other players have been called to the Team India camp. It was explained that due to the heat, the team's two main fast bowlers, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, will be playing three matches in seven days and will also be traveling. Therefore, it will be very difficult for them to help the batsmen practice in the nets.
As for Aaqib Nabi, his Test participation is uncertain, but the team management is closely monitoring him. Nabi was the leading wicket-taker in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season. He contributed significantly to Jammu and Kashmir's first Ranji Trophy title with a total of 60 wickets. Nevertheless, Gurnur Brar was named in Team India.
While announcing the Team India squad, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar had said about Aaqib Nabi that the Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler has had excellent Ranji Trophy seasons in the last two seasons, but considering the Indian conditions, it is not possible to give a chance to many fast bowlers in the Test squad simultaneously.
