The Central Government has provided a major relief to employees deployed in Kashmir Valley by extending the special package under the 7th Pay Commission for three more years. This move acknowledges the challenging conditions in the region and ensures continued financial support for central employees working there.
Special Package for Employees in Kashmir
🔹 The special package provides additional incentives to government employees working in Kashmir Valley, separate from their salary and allowances.
🔹 After the revocation of Article 370 and recent elections, there were speculations that the package might be discontinued. However, considering the situation, the government has extended it until August 2027.
Which Employees Will Benefit?
📌 The extension applies to central government employees deployed in 10 districts of Kashmir Valley:
✔ Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, Kupwara, Pulwama, Srinagar, Kulgam, Shopian, Ganderbal, and Bandipora.
📌 Applicable to all Ministries & PSUs: The special package will be applicable to all central government ministries, departments, and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
📌 Relief for Pensioners:
✔ Pensioners originally from Kashmir Valley can now withdraw their pensions from anywhere in India, ensuring a safer and more convenient process.
What Does the Special Package Include?
📌 Family Relocation Assistance: Employees deployed in Kashmir can relocate their families anywhere in India at the government’s expense.
📌 Transport Allowance: Additional financial support for travel and relocation.
📌 Transfer Grant: Employees receive 80% of their last month’s basic salary as a transfer grant.
📌 Daily Allowance: Employees who choose to keep their families in Kashmir receive ₹141 per working day.
📌 Messing Allowance for CAPF Personnel: Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel receive ₹142.75 per day as a messing allowance.
📌 Total Benefit: On average, employees receive ₹3,102 per month under the special package.
