The Saurabh Rajput murder case in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh has not only shocked people, but has also raised a unique problem. In this case, Saurabh's wife Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil together brutally murdered Saurabh. After the murder, both of them cut the body into 15 pieces and locked it in a blue drum. Not only this, to hide the body, the drum was filled with cement and sealed. After this horrific incident, Muskan and Sahil went to Himachal Pradesh for two weeks without any worry. But the effect of this incident is now being felt on the drum traders of Meerut, where people are running away after seeing the blue drum.
Muskan and Sahil had bought this blue drum from Jali Kothi area of Meerut. But now this drum has become a problem for the traders there. Earlier, where there used to be a crowd of customers at the drum shops in the Ghantaghar area, today there is silence there. Local shopkeepers say that after this murder, people have started fearing the blue drum. No customer is ready to buy the drum now, due to which the shops are lying vacant and business has come to a standstill. A shopkeeper said in frustration, "The criminals are in jail, then what is the fault of the drum? But now people run away as soon as they see the color blue."
This murder was so horrific that it created a strange fear of the blue drum in the minds of the people. Traders say that they are trying their best to convince the customers. They count the qualities of the drum and how useful it is for storing water, grains or other goods. Some shopkeepers have even decided that now they will sell the drum only after checking the identity card of the customers, so that there is no misuse. But despite so many efforts, customers are not ready to turn towards the market. The business of drum sellers has collapsed and they are suffering huge losses.
This incident is not only the story of a brutal crime, but also shows how an accident can affect the everyday life of ordinary people. Merchants of Meerut are now worried that if the situation remains the same, their business will be completely shut down. A merchant said that earlier 20-25 drums were sold every day, but now it has become difficult to sell even a single drum in a week. This murder has created such fear in the minds of people that they have started associating drums with crime. Merchants say that this fear is unnecessary, because the drum is just an ordinary utensil, which was misused by criminals.
