Car Sales Report June 2026: The year 2026 has had a significant impact on the global market due to wars in several countries. Meanwhile, the month of June 2026 has also been extremely volatile and surprising for the Indian automobile market. It's worth noting that, driven by strong demand for vehicles in the domestic market and growing exports abroad, the country's leading car manufacturers have recorded strong sales figures.

While some companies surprised everyone with their growth in June, some major brands faced challenges. While Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Mahindra dominated the month, Hyundai's growth slowed slightly due to a major supply chain issue. So, let's explore which companies dominated the auto market this month and which suffered losses.

Maruti Suzuki wins

India's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, has once again proven its market dominance by selling 200,390 vehicles in June 2026. Compared to the previous year, the company has recorded annual growth of approximately 19%.

Meanwhile, Tata Motors made the biggest splash in June 2026. Tata's passenger vehicle sales saw a remarkable 69 percent jump this month. The company sold a total of 63,083 cars last month, compared to just 37,237 units in the same month last year.

Mahindra's SUV works its magic.

The month of June was also a significant one for Mahindra, with total vehicle sales increasing 37% to 106,207 units. Driven by strong demand for Mahindra's Scorpio, Thar, SUV700, and the recently launched XUV3XO, the company delivered 60,393 SUVs in the domestic market alone.

Additionally, the company's commercial vehicle segment has also seen strong growth of 35%, indicating Mahindra's strong presence in both rural and urban markets.

Hyundai suffers losses

It's worth noting that while other companies saw strong sales this month, Hyundai Motor India faced a challenge. Hyundai sold a total of 51,335 vehicles in June 2026, of which 39,635 were in the domestic market.

A fire broke out at the factory of a Hyundai parts supplier vendor. This resulted in a production loss of approximately 13,900 vehicles this month. However, the company has bravely arranged for parts from other locations, and since June 22nd, its plant has been operating completely normally.
