Before 2020, there was no minimum age limit for international debut. However, in November 2020, the ICC introduced a new rule that a player can only make their international debut if they are at least 15 years old. Vaibhav turned 15 on March 27th of this year. Therefore, he is now eligible to play international cricket.

When can you debut?

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is one of the top contenders to win the Orange Cap in IPL 2026. He has scored 357 runs in eight matches so far. Following this performance, speculation has gained momentum that the BCCI may offer Vaibhav a chance to debut for Team India during the upcoming Ireland tour. Two T20 matches are scheduled to be played between India and Ireland on June 26th and 28th of this year.

If Vaibhav Suryavanshi gets an opportunity to play an international match for Team India in the T20 series against Ireland, he will become the youngest Indian player in history to debut in international cricket. This Indian record is currently held by Sachin Tendulkar, who played his first international match at the age of 16 years and 205 days.
