SBI operations to remain suspended for four days

SBI Bank Services: State Bank of India has warned its customers to be mindful of the dates for any banking work in the coming days. Bank operations will be halted for four days in the coming days due to the bank employees' strike, which will prevent any banking work from being completed.

When will the strike take place?
The All India State Bank of India Staff Federation (AISBISF) has announced that all SBI staff will be on strike on May 25th and 26th. The strike will be for two days, but bank operations will be suspended for four days. This is because May 23rd is the fourth Saturday, and May 24th is a Sunday holiday. Employees will be on strike on the following two days, Monday and Tuesday, which will result in a four-day shutdown of bank operations.

Why are the employees striking?
AISBISF has stated that this strike is being conducted to resolve long-standing issues. Staff shortages, job conditions, recruitment rules, and pension-related issues have been troubling them for several days. The union alleges that the problems of working employees have not been adequately addressed and that many previous agreements have not yet been implemented. In a notice to the SBI Chairman on May 2, the Federation stated that this strike will be conducted under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.

Branch-related services will remain closed.
It should be noted that this strike will not affect online services in any way. Only branch-related work will be disrupted due to this. Facilities like check deposits and cash deposits will be closed for these four days. However, digital services will continue as usual.
