Want Fresh ₹10 Notes for a Wedding? PNB is Offering Crisp Currency at Its Branches

With the wedding season kicking off from Akshaya Tritiya, the demand for crisp ₹10 notes is soaring. Whether it’s your brother’s wedding or a close friend’s big day, those new ₹10 notes are a must-have for traditional money showers. But if you've been struggling to find fresh notes, there's good news.

Punjab National Bank (PNB), the country’s second-largest public sector bank, has announced that it is providing crisp new notes to customers across its branches.

Here’s What PNB Is Offering

  • You can exchange old or torn notes for fresh ones at any nearby PNB branch.
  • The service is open to all customers—not limited to your home branch.
  • Even soiled or damaged notes can be exchanged as per RBI guidelines.

PNB recently tweeted about this initiative, informing customers how they can visit the bank and request new currency notes ahead of weddings and celebrations.

What the RBI Says

Under Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules, any citizen can exchange torn or soiled notes at any bank branch.

  • You don’t need to hold an account at that bank.
  • If any bank refuses, you can file a formal complaint.
  • However, the value returned may depend on the condition of the note.

Beware of Online Sellers

Due to high demand, bundles of new currency notes are also being sold on e-commerce platforms—but at steep markups:

  • ₹10 note bundle (100 notes): approx. ₹1,620
  • ₹20 note bundle: around ₹2,500
  • ₹100 blank notes bundle: up to ₹12,000
  • ₹200 bundle: nearly ₹23,000

These prices are significantly higher than the face value, and customers are often charged additional shipping fees. Purchasing from authorized bank branches is a safer and more cost-effective option.
