Preparations are underway to connect water supply to solar power in Rajasthan. The state's Public Health Engineering Department will install rooftop solar plants with a capacity of over 200 megawatts at major pumping stations. This plan is estimated to result in savings of approximately ₹180 crore and significant reductions in electricity bills.  

The first phase of the plan covers eight districts of Rajasthan: Baran, Bharatpur, Bundi, Dausa, Deeg, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, and Tonk. A total of 201 solar plants will be installed in these districts: 43 in Baran, 31 in Bharatpur, 13 in Bundi, 26 in Dausa, 16 in Deeg, 21 in Kota, 27 in Sawai Madhopur, and 24 in Tonk.

Media reports indicate that the government estimates this project will cost over ₹703 crore
Currently, PHED pumping stations consume approximately 3.5 billion units of electricity annually. Once the solar plant is installed, a portion of this electricity requirement will be met by solar power, potentially leading to significant reductions in electricity bills.
