The 1998 film 'Satya' was re-released in theatres. On this occasion, the film's director Ram Gopal Varma became very emotional. He wrote a long post on social media which went viral within minutes.

Ram Gopal Verma: Ram Gopal Verma's film 'Satya' was recently re-released in theatres. On this occasion, Ram Gopal shared an emotional note on social media and said that he was not intoxicated by alcohol, but intoxicated by his success and ego. He realized this after watching 'Satya' after 27 years.
Got emotional after watching 'Satya'
Ram Gopal Varma, who is active on social media, shared a post on his X handle in which he got emotional. He wrote, 'After watching 'Satya' after 27 years, I became so emotional that tears started flowing from my eyes and I was not caring whether anyone would see it or not. The tears were not just for the film, but for what happened after that.'
He said, 'Making a film is like giving birth to a child born out of the pangs of passion, without knowing what kind of child I am giving birth to. This is because a film is made in pieces, without knowing when it will be ready. During production, the focus is on what others are saying about it and after that whether it is a hit or not, we start thinking about the story ahead.'
cried at being betrayed
Ram Gopal Varma further wrote, 'Till two days ago, I had ignored the countless inspirations it inspired, considering it another step in my aimless journey. Coming back to the hotel after the screening of Satya, sitting in the dark, I did not understand why, despite my so-called intelligence, I did not make this film a benchmark for what I should do in the future. I also realized that I did not cry just for the tragedy that happened in that film, but I also cried with joy for that form of myself. I also cried with the guilt of betraying all those people who had trusted me because of 'Satya'.
Ego ruined his career
He further wrote, 'I was not drunk but drunk on my success and my ego, however, I did not realize this until two days ago. The light of 'Rangeela' and 'Satya' blinded me and I got lost in making films to show off my technical wizardry or many other things which were meaningless. I forgot a simple and common truth that technology can elevate a given subject but cannot take it forward.
This is the reason why we lost everything
Ram Gopal Varma, while admitting that some of his later films may have been successful, but none of them had the honesty and integrity that 'Satya' had, added, "My grandiose vision which inspired me to do something new in cinema, also blinded me from the value of my work and I became a man running towards the sky, forgetting to see the garden planted under his feet and this became the reason for my decline in dignity."
The director further said, 'I can't improve on what I have done now. But I promised myself two nights ago while wiping my tears that from now onwards whatever film I make, I will make it with the respect for which I wanted to become a director in the beginning. I will never be able to make a film like 'Satya' again, but not having the intention to do so is also an unforgivable crime against cinema. I don't mean that I should keep making films like 'Satya', but beyond the style or theme, at least it should have the honesty of 'Satya'.
'I wish I could go back in time and make a rule for myself that I must watch 'Satya' again before making any film. If I had followed that rule, I am sure I would not have made 90 percent of the films I have made since then.'
He was crazy in love with Urmila
Ram Gopal Varma finally said- 'Finally, now I have promised myself that whatever little time is left in my life, I want to spend it honestly and make something like 'Satya' and I swear on this truth.' Let us tell you, Ram Gopal Varma was once crazy about Urmila Matondkar. If reports are to be believed, he was so crazy about her beauty that he had kept her photos in a room. When his wife got to know about this, she slapped Urmila in public. It is said that this affected the career of the actress.
