Nowadays the problem of obesity is increasing very rapidly among people. Earlier diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure used to occur only in adults, but now they have started occurring in children as well.

Under the new initiative of the Health Ministry, people are now being made aware of healthy lifestyle in the major hospitals of the country. In this series, Sugar and Oil boards will now be installed in AIIMS Hospital, Delhi. Its purpose is to give information to people about how much oil and sugar is there in the food they are eating. This will help patients, their families and hospital staff to take better decisions regarding their diet.
How important is this step?
AIIMS professor and media spokesperson Dr. Reema Dada called this decision a very important and positive step. She said that nowadays the problem of obesity is increasing very fast among people. This is not only seen in adults, but also in children. Earlier diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure used to occur only in adults, but now they have started occurring in children as well. She said that the biggest reason for this is unhealthy lifestyle, in which people eat food with more oil and sugar. Among these, fast food causes the most harm. It has a direct impact on the body and the risk of serious diseases like obesity, heart disease, diabetes increases.
New initiative will be done in AIIMS hospital
Dr. Reema also told that the director of AIIMS was already in favor of such an initiative. He had said that healthy food should be served in the cafeteria and canteen of the hospital. Boards related to sugar and oil should be installed there, so that awareness among the people increases. Now this instruction is being fully implemented. Under this initiative, boards will now be installed in the canteens and eating places of AIIMS, on which it will be clearly written how many calories, how much oil and how much sugar is there in the food being served. This will make every person aware about his food and will be able to avoid taking more oil or sugar than required.
Another step towards a healthy India
Such an initiative in a big and prestigious institute like AIIMS Delhi can become an example for the whole country. This effort of the Health Ministry will inspire not only the patients but also the common people to adopt a healthy lifestyle. This initiative shows that now more attention is being paid to prevention of the disease rather than treatment after getting sick.
