Invoice after selling the car

Challan After Selling Car: Many people in our country enthusiastically buy a new car, but then sell it after getting fed up with the expenses. But even after selling the car, you face many problems. The first of which is a challan being issued in your name even after the car is sold. It's worth noting that when selling a car, people often take the money and hand over the keys to the new owner, but leave the paperwork for RC transfer incomplete.

As a result, if anyone breaks traffic rules on the road, an e-challan issued by high-tech cameras is sent directly to your mobile phone. In such a situation, you are legally held responsible for the fine and any resulting accident. If you have found yourself in such a predicament, knowing these important legal rules can help you avoid this serious problem.

Do this work first

It's important to note that whenever you sell your car or bike to someone, the first and most important step is to prepare a delivery note. This note must contain the exact date and time of delivery, along with the signatures of both parties. Also, ensure the buyer's signature on Form 29 and Form 30.

If in future the vehicle meets with an accident or a big challan is issued, then these delivery notes and forms will become your biggest evidence in proving before the court or traffic police that the vehicle was not with you at the time of the incident and you were not driving it.

Immediately inform the RTO.

Whenever you sell a vehicle, keep in mind that under the Motor Vehicles Act, it is your responsibility to notify your regional RTO in writing within 14 days of the vehicle transfer. Submit a copy of the sale documents, delivery note, and transfer form to the RTO office and retain a receipt.

Once it is recorded in the RTO records that the vehicle has been sold, the process of ownership transfer starts in the system, and the legal risk on you is completely reduced.

How to challenge wrong challan online

If a new challan has been issued in your name before the RC has been transferred, instead of worrying, take these steps immediately. Visit the official Government of India portal. Go to the complaints section and enter the challan number.

Then, when filing your complaint, clearly state that the vehicle has been sold and upload the delivery note, sales receipt, and a photo of the buyer's identification card as proof. After verifying the complaint and evidence, the traffic department removes the challan from your name and transfers it to the new buyer. These steps can help you avoid such trouble.
