Seva Teerth Inauguration: From Parliament House to Rajpath, know which one will be known by which name now?

Seva Teerth Inauguration: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan 1 and 2. In the meantime, let's learn about those places that are known by different names today.

Seva Tirtha inauguration

Seva Teerth Inauguration: Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated Seva Teerth, along with Kartavya Bhawan 1 and 2. This is a major step towards transforming Delhi's power corridor. Seva Teerth will house the Prime Minister's Office, the National Security Council Secretariat, and the Cabinet Secretariat. Over the past few years, the central government has renamed several prominent places. The aim is to remove the legacy of the colonial era and strengthen democratic and constitutional values.

Rajpath renamed

Rajpath has been renamed as the Path of Duty. This change was made in September 2022. The Path of Duty stretches from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate.

Old Parliament House is now Constitution House

With the parliamentary proceedings shifting to the new building, the old Parliament House has been renamed Samvidhan Sadan. This is the same building where the Constituent Assembly of India drafted the Constitution of independent India between 1946 and 1949. Consequently, the newly constructed Parliament House is simply called Sansad Bhavan. It is now the main venue for parliamentary proceedings.

South Block renamed as Seva Teerth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has renamed the South Block complex as Seva Tirtha, with its inauguration on February 13, 2026. The complex houses several important offices, including the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and the Cabinet Secretariat. Originally known as the Executive Enclave, Seva Tirtha was renamed on December 2, 2025.

Central Secretariat now Kartavya Bhawan

The newly constructed General Central Secretariat Building is now officially called Kartavya Bhavan, a name that resonates with the larger theme of duty depicted in Kartavya Path.

Change in the name of Race Course Road and Mughal Garden

Race Course Road, leading to the Prime Minister's residence, has been renamed Lok Kalyan Marg. The famous Mughal Gardens inside Rashtrapati Bhavan have also been renamed Amrit Udyan. The purpose of this renaming was to reflect the larger spirit of the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav."

The name of Raj Bhavan has also been changed.

Government residences known as Raj Bhavans in various states have also been renamed Lok Bhavans, arguing that the name reflects a colonial mindset.
