According to a report by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the ICC is considering including Scotland in place of Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup 2026. However, the ICC has not yet held any discussions with Scotland regarding this. ICC will take a big decision for T20 World Cup 2026

Citing security concerns in India, Bangladesh requested the ICC to relocate its matches to Sri Lanka. However, the ICC rejected the BCB's request, resulting in the BCB's decision not to participate in the 2026 T20 World Cup. According to media reports, if the ICC decides against Bangladesh, Scotland could replace them in the tournament. However, a BBC report states that the ICC has not contacted Cricket Scotland in this regard.

BCB refused to travel to India citing security reasons

Despite ongoing discussions between the ICC and the BCB, no resolution has been reached to the controversy surrounding the T20 World Cup 2026 not coming to India, which began after Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was removed from the 2026 Indian Premier League at the BCCI's direction. Following this, the BCB, citing security concerns, announced that its national team would not travel to India for its group matches in Kolkata and Mumbai. With the tournament schedule already finalized, the ICC has rejected Bangladesh's request to shift the matches to co-host Sri Lanka.
