American company Eli Lilly has introduced a new pill for the treatment of obesity and diabetes, which can become an alternative to injections. In the third phase-3 trial, this medicine has been effective in reducing weight and controlling blood sugar.

Obesity and type 2 diabetes are considered to be the biggest diseases of today's fast paced life. Till now most of the patients had to depend on injections for treatment, but now a new pill has shown a ray of hope. American pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly has claimed in its latest trial that its new weight loss tablet has proved effective on both weight and sugar.
What was the result of the trial
The company has completed the third and important phase-3 clinical trial of this drug. The name of the trial was ATTAIN, in which the drug and or forglipron were given. The special thing is that this is the first drug of the glp-1 receptor class that has been introduced in the form of a tablet. People suffering from obesity and diabetes included in the trial were given the medicine daily. After this, the results were surprising.
- Its results showed that many patients lost up to 10 kg of weight in 72 weeks.
- The group that took placebo, i.e., fake medicine, lost barely 2 kg in weight.
- The blood sugar level of the patients taking the medicine also decreased rapidly.
As effective as an injection
Experts say that this drug, in the form of a tablet, is as effective as the injectable GLP-1 class. Experts believe that this drug is safe as well as effective. On the other hand, it can be a great option for those patients who have trouble taking injections. Apart from reducing weight and sugar, this drug also showed effect on many heart-related problems. The trial report revealed that the patient's blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglycerides have improved. Apart from this, the inflammation in the body was reduced by almost half i.e. 50%. The most important thing is that the A1C level of more than 70% of the participants who took the higher dose came to the diabetes-free range.
Big change coming soon
Till now, injections were considered the biggest option for losing weight and controlling diabetes, but this new option in the form of a pill can make the lives of millions of patients easier in the future.
