Friends, as we know that the Indian government runs various types of schemes for the economically weaker people of their country, which aim to help these people and improve the lifestyle, one such scheme is the Public Distribution System (PDS), under which crores of people across the country get subsidized grains through ration card. This initiative has been implemented under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), which benefits millions of people who cannot buy food grains at market price or cannot cook their own food. If you are not getting ration under this, then complain here-
When can you file a complaint?
You can file a complaint if:
You are not getting your allotted ration from the depot.
You are being paid more money or less than the approved quantity.
The quality of ration is poor.
The depot is not opening on the scheduled days.
Your ration card is not being accepted without any valid reason.
How to lodge a complaint about ration depot
1. State helpline number
Every state in India has a helpline number of the Food Supply Department, where ration card holders can report problems.
Visit the official portal: https://nfsa.gov.in/
Select your state to get the helpline number.
Call the number to register your complaint verbally.
Provide details like ration card number, location of the depot, and the problem faced.
2. Online complaint through NFSA website
The National Food Security Portal also allows you to lodge a complaint online.
Visit https://nfsa.gov.in/
Click on your respective state under the “Grievance Redressal” section.
Fill in the required information like name, ration card number, depot details, and nature of complaint.
Submit the complaint for review. If verified, appropriate action will be taken against the responsible depot officer.
3. District-level complaint
If you live in a small town or rural area and are not getting ration:
Visit the district food supply office and lodge a written or verbal complaint.
Make sure you carry your ration card and, if possible, any proof of denial of service.
4. State-level complaint
If the district office does not resolve your issue:
Contact the state food supply department.
You can do so through their office, website, or the helpline provided on the NFSA portal.
A high-level investigation may be initiated based on your complaint.
What happens after filing a complaint?
Once your complaint is registered:
The concerned department will verify the information provided.
If the complaint is found to be genuine, action may be taken against the ration depot, which may include a fine, warning, or suspension.
In some cases, you may be given the missed ration retrospectively.
