On Thursday, at a joint press conference at the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee office, State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasara and Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Julie targeted the central government over the shortage of LPG and CNG gas. State President Dotasara said that a gas crisis has developed in the country, and people are forced to stand in long queues for LPG cylinders, commercial gas, and CNG.
He stated that the ongoing war-like situation in the Gulf countries has impacted gas supply in the country, and industrial production has declined by approximately 30 percent. Dotasara stated that the central government had already raised the price of LPG cylinders, and now the gas shortage has exacerbated the problems of the general public and traders. Dotasara also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri regarding the files related to Jeffrey Epstein. He demanded that the state government waive the electricity bills of traders and small businesses affected by the gas crisis to provide relief.
He said that just as people had to stand in lines outside banks during demonetization and wait outside crematoriums during the COVID-19 pandemic, today people are seen standing in queues outside gas agencies. Dotasara alleged that online booking has been stopped in many places and the supply of commercial LPG cylinders has also been affected. Gas bookings have declined by about 40 percent compared to normal days. He said that despite it being wedding season, people are forced to reduce the number of guests at their events, while the operations of small hotels and restaurants are also being affected.
