Breach of Privilege Notice: Rahul Gandhi has landed himself in trouble after delivering a scathing speech on the India-US trade deal. Kiren Rijiju has announced a breach of privilege notice against him.

Rahul Gandhi and Kiren Rijiju have a heated argument.
During the Budget Session in the Lok Sabha, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi made a major statement on the trade deal between India and the United States, prompting a heated debate with Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. Rahul Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had "sold out" India through this deal, and that it was a "complete surrender." Following this, Kiren Rijiju announced that he would file a breach of privilege notice against Rahul Gandhi.
Kiren Rijiju asks Rahul for proof of his allegations.
On February 11, 2026, Rahul Gandhi stated in the House that this agreement was a surrender not just of the Prime Minister, but of the future of 1.5 billion Indians. He claimed that the government did this to protect the BJP's financial structure. Kiren Rijiju interrupted Rahul Gandhi's speech, interrupting him and saying, "You are not an ordinary MP. You are the Leader of the Opposition. When you speak on an issue, it has serious consequences. I would urge the Leader of the Opposition to provide concrete evidence for the allegations made in his statement."
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju countered Rahul Gandhi's allegations, saying he was repeating the same thing over and over again. Rijiju demanded that Rahul immediately prove all his allegations. Rijiju said, "You are taking the Prime Minister's name, and the words you used, the allegations you made, I demand through the Chair that you prove the authenticity of all the allegations." He called Rahul's allegations "baseless" and "wild." The Speaker intervened, saying that Rahul did not need to prove them immediately, as this was Rijiju's demand. Rahul replied that he would prove them right away.
Rahul Gandhi is in trouble for making serious allegations against PM Modi.
Kiren Rijiju told news agency ANI, "I am going to file a privilege notice against Rahul Gandhi for misleading the House and making baseless statements. There are clear rules of procedure and proceedings in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. When a member wishes to make a serious allegation against another member, they must give notice and substantiate the allegation. I have called Rahul Gandhi to the House and requested him to substantiate the points he has raised. Rahul Gandhi has made baseless and false allegations against the government and the Prime Minister, claiming that the Prime Minister has sold out India and Indian interests. On what basis? He has made serious allegations against Hardeep Singh Puri without giving notice."
