The new PAN 2.0 cards will be equipped with a QR code, which is similar to the QR code that appears on the Aadhaar card. This QR code will store the necessary information about the cardholder.

By scanning the QR code, users or institutions can instantly access the complete details of the PAN cardholder

Improved security

With QR codes and other technological updates, PAN 2.0 has been made more tamper-resistant. This helps prevent misuse or fraud involving PAN card information.

No need to carry it physically

Since QR codes can be scanned using smartphones, many transactions can be completed digitally. This means less reliance on physical cards.

New issuance format

The look and feel of PAN cards issued under the PAN 2.0 system will be slightly different from the current version, with a greater focus on digital compatibility and security.

Will old PAN cards still be valid?

Many people are worried about whether their existing PAN cards will become invalid. The answer is no – your existing PAN card will continue to be valid and usable as before.
