Patna Police Conference: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar issued strict instructions to officers at a police conference to control crime in Bihar. The Prohibition Bureau and Cyber Crime Unit were launched.

Amid a recent surge in criminal activity in Bihar, a major effort has begun in the capital, Patna, to restore law and order. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar formally inaugurated a two-day state-level police conference at Sardar Patel Bhavan (Police Headquarters) on Monday. Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary also attended the high-level meeting.
On the first day of the conference, the Chief Minister issued clear instructions to police officers. He stated that law and order prevails in Bihar, and the police are responsible for maintaining it. The Chief Minister directed all police officers to work with complete honesty, diligence, and strictness to control crime. He made it clear that no leniency will be shown towards criminals.
Modernization and commissioning of new units
In light of the rising digital crimes, the Chief Minister launched the State Prohibition and Narcotics Control Bureau and a separate Cyber Crime and Security Unit. These two units will now operate independently. The meeting focused on the improved use of software and hardware in policing and the modernization of the police.
The entire police force together
The entire command of the Bihar Police was seen together in this conference. DGP, all ADGs, IGs, DIGs, and SSPs were present in person, while SPs, DSPs, and police station heads of the districts joined through video conferencing.
The churning will continue tomorrow as well.
The second day of the police conference will be held on Tuesday ( January 13 ), where future plans and achievements in crime control will be discussed in detail. The meeting comes at a time when incidents like robbery, murder, and rape in the state have given the opposition an opportunity to launch an offensive. It remains to be seen how much improvement this brainstorming will bring to crime control in Bihar.
