HDFC Bank gives a gift to loan holders
Inflation is troubling everyone across the country. Meanwhile, HDFC Bank has provided some relief to its loan holders. HDFC Bank has made a slight change in its interest rates, which will now directly impact EMIs. The bank has reduced loan rates for different tenures. These new rates are effective from Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
How much have rates decreased?
According to information on the bank's website, the MCLR has been reduced by 0.05% on select loans. This is expected to benefit borrowers. Following the MCLR reduction, HDFC Bank's rates have now dropped from 8.15% to 8.10%, depending on the loan tenure. This decrease depends on your loan term.
Benefits of short-term loans
After this change from the bank, people whose loan tenure is from six months to three years will directly benefit from this. People who have taken a loan for a longer period will not get any benefit from this. Specifically, overnight and one-month MCLR rates have been reduced from 8.15 percent to 8.10 percent. Three month MCLR has come down from 8.25 percent to 8.20 percent. Whereas MCLR rates for six months, one year, two years and three years remain the same.
| Duration | Old MCLR | New MCLR | shift |
| Overnight | 8.15 | 8.10 | 0.5% |
| one month | 8.15 | 8.10 | 0.5% |
| three months | 8.25 | 8.20 | 0.5% |
| six months | 8.35 | 8.35 | no changes |
| one year | 8.35 | 8.35 | no changes |
