After Suryakumar Yadav, the BCCI has appointed Shreyas Iyer as the new T20 captain. The board announced the squads for the Ireland and England tours, as well as the Asian Games, but Shubman Gill was not selected.

Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer
The new T20 International cycle begins with the Ireland tour, followed by a five-match T20 series against England. Following Suryakumar Yadav's departure, the BCCI appointed Shreyas Iyer as the new captain, while ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill was not included in the squad for the shorter format. He is also not part of the Asian Games squad, so is he not part of the T20 plans? Reports suggest this is not the case.
Rev Sports, citing sources, reported that the selection committee also considered bringing Shubman Gill back into the T20 setup and handing him the captaincy. The source stated that Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill were two options for captaincy, and both names were discussed. According to the report, the selectors ultimately decided to retain Shreyas Iyer as captain until the Asian Games in September-October.
Of course, this has come to light in the report, but Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar had said during the team announcement that keeping in mind the Olympics and the next T20 World Cup, Shreyas Iyer is better for captaincy.
A second-string team, with a different captain, is likely to be sent for the Zimbabwe tour in July. Based on his IPL performance, Shreyas Iyer is a better captain, a point Agarkar also made in the press conference. However, according to reports, the selectors have not yet made a final decision regarding Gill. He could also be included in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, as well as the 2020 Olympics.
Shreyas Iyer is expected to take the Indian team further under his captaincy. There will be more pressure on him because India's T20 record under Suryakumar Yadav's captaincy has been excellent, and the team has won the T20 World Cup twice in a row.
